Why? To me, it’s just about life experience. 18 and 13…well, he’s an adult, and she’s just starting in high school. It seems kinda predatory. If that guy really liked her, I’d advise him to wait until she turned 17 or 18, and if they still liked each other, then go for it. I never dated more than one year beneath my class. I knew a few juniors who dated freshmen (“dated”…), but I kept it to one year below my school grade. Otherwise it would seem too….I dunno. Icky. When I was 13, I had a “boyfriend” we texted each other hearts and stuff and I guess you could say it was a “normal” relationship for early teenagers. But our parents didn’t know. Our parents are best friends so we saw each other all the time besides in school. Life at home has always been hard for me. I’m emotionally abused by my father and I have really bad anxiety. My mom has never been there for me so I am fighting my own battle with no help by anyone. Recently, I have been diagnosed with anorexia due to this pain. Anyways, being in this “relationship” with this guy made me feel better about myself and he actually made me happy.
So I had this notebook. Every time he would say something nice about me or compliment me on something, I would write it down so that way when I was upset or I would be told about how awful I am, I can read through everything he said to me and I felt better. It never had anything bad or dirty in it either. Then my parents made us break up because they found out about our relationship. They blamed me and both of our families didn’t talk for a while because apparently everything was my fault. I cried hard those few nights. Then I get a text from him asking about the notebook and I started freaking out because I never told him or anyone about it. My mom said she wouldn’t apologize for what she did. It has been 2 years since that happened and still no apology.
I’d be so happy that they were getting along, me and my brother never very good friends and the age differnece was the same 13/17. I would also probably take a picture. Sure, why not? He’s a sophomore, she’s a freshman. I dated a freshie when I was a soph. I was on the football team, and she was a cheerleader. How cliche and unoriginal is that? ;D I think it doesn’t get weird until you start getting about 4–5 years of difference. Like…if she’s 12 and he’s 16, yeah. That’s getting creepy. Or if she’s 13 and he’s 18…mmm….yeah, I wouldn’t do that. I mean really, is an 18 year old really going to take a 13 year old on “dates”? Seems unlikely, if you know what I’m getting at >.> Her parents HATED it, but for some reason they didn’t put a stop to it. I used to say “19 and 12…that’s not dating, it’s pedophilia.” But what could anyone do. Her parents knew all about it, and they wouldn’t do anything.
